I think this pretty much says it all.  There is almost nothing in the world that I like better than a perfectly braised pork shoulder, unless it is my wife’s incredible photos.  We have decided to document our meals, adventures and travels in this blog.  We are a couple trying to live a locavore lifestyle in western Maryland and hoping to establish the Western Maryland Slow Foods USA chapter.

Anyway, we had been to the restaurant Volt in Frederick back in April for our anniversary and gotten on their email list.  It is one incredible restaurant.  This week we received a notice that they would be hosting a July 4th BBQ in their courtyard and my wife was quick on the draw and got us a seat.  The menu was upscale summer comfort food.  I started with some outstanding steamed clams and my wife had a mini crab cake.

For main courses I had the pork shoulder sandwich shown above and she had a fried chicken basket.

The meal was incredible.  The setting superb and the service was excellent as always.  If we lived in downtown Frederick we would be eating at Volt once a week.

Admittedly, not much in the way of locavore dining for this July 4th, but the food and the photos were magic.
